Precious minutes on your mattress

As some of you will already know, the clocks are due to go back on Sunday to give us all that glorious reward of an extra hour in bed. But what are we all going to do with those precious few minutes? Most of us will choose to sleep it away and put it towards catching up on some ‘zz’s’ but I’m sure there are the few of us all that want to be super-productive and put the extra time to good use. Here are 3 ideas aimed at that dynamic minority. 1.) Super breakfast – Naturally, food is the first thing that springs to my mind. Why not get up at your usual time and spend those extra sixty minutes cooking up something vibrant and new? Rustle up some scrummy pancakes with fresh blueberries, maybe some Greek yogurt with fresh fruit and honey or even a naughty full English – omnomnom! 2.) Wake ‘n dash – Try waking up early and spending that hour burning off the calories from the party the night before. Whether it’s for your snoring spouse or moody mother-in-law, a guest room is a must have for your humble abode. Some of us out there may see substantial difficulty in making space for such a necessity but I’m here to tell you that it can be achieved with ease! Bringing day-to-day elegance to your room, the Evie Day Bed boasts a versatile and contemporary iron design with the opportunity to purchase the matching Evie Guest Bed which fits underneath perfectly and is an ideal space saver. 2.) Space Waste – Don’t be afraid of dedicating some space to a guest room. Let’s face it; we’re all guilty of hearing the words ‘guest room’ and dreading the loss of our personal space...

This week I'm writing on a new slant and I'm going to tell you a bit about me and my sleep (or lack of it). The week before last, I spent a week at my parents due to a huge extension project which has left me without a kitchen, hallway or functioning living room. Chaos is not the word and with 2 young children under the age of 4, my husband and I took the decision to move out while we knock down walls and try and make good again. Off we trotted to my parents (poor parents I know but thankfully they were off on their holidays). During the week we spent there, I slept in 3 different beds due to a sick baby not sleeping, insomniac husband (worrying about his building project) and 3 year old bed wetting incident. I felt a little like Goldilocks after trying all 3 beds and still not finding myself able to get a good nights sleep. It's not that they weren't nice beds, they just weren't MY bed. Of course the show must go on and I still had to come to work each day, travel on the early train once or...
